“Saala Jataayu?”

Jataayu is a hero who died heroically while trying to save Maa Sita from Ravana. Even while breathing his last, he reveals to Lord Ram the direction in which Ravana fled with her. In Telangana, the family of erstwhile rulers of Jatprole (a place earlier known as Jataayu Kshetra) continue to worship Jataayu in a temple dedicated to him.

Trust Bollywood to casually insult such heroes from Ramayana as so-called “comedy”. Here is a clip from Raksha Bandhan (2022) where a character complains that he has been reduced to “saala Jatayu”
